"Bücher Switzerland For Beginners" by George Mikes, published by Andre Deutsch, is a humorous and satirical look at Switzerland from the perspective of a foreigner. Mikes, known for his witty observations of different cultures, uses his characteristic style to poke fun at Swiss customs, habits, and national character. The book likely plays on stereotypes and contrasts the perceived image of Switzerland (orderly, efficient, precise) with humorous anecdotes and observations, highlighting the sometimes quirky realities of Swiss life. It's meant to be an entertaining and lighthearted read for those interested in learning about Switzerland, but with a healthy dose of comedic exaggeration.
